The Humanitas Eye Center performs outpatient diagnostic, therapeutic and surgical activities in day hospital and inpatient settings.
The team performs surgeries for cataracts with the technique of ultrasound phacoemulsification and artificial lens implantation, for glaucoma and also for congenital-infantile and paralytic strabismus, after functional evaluation by the pediatric ophthalmology and orthoptics service.
The Unit also deals with retinal pathologies (detachments, vitrectomies), corneal transplantation, stem cells, amniotic membrane, as well as refractive surgery with femtosecond and excimer lasers for laser correction of myopia, astigmatism, hypermetropia, and presbyopia.
As part of the surgical activity, operations are also performed on the tear ducts, eyelids, orbit, and outpatient treatment by laser for glaucoma, retinal pathologies, and secondary cataracts, while in the field of diagnostics, examinations such as digitized retinal fluorangiography, computerized campimetry, ocular ultrasonography, corneal topography, and visual evoked potentials are performed.
